CASCADE CHUTE OUT
Cascade Chute Out Rodeo Series Official Rules
The Cascade Chute Out Rodeo Series is a collaborative partnership between three rodeos: Sisters Rodeo in Sisters, Oregon; High Desert Stampede in Redmond, Oregon; and Crooked River Roundup in Prineville, Oregon.
This series offers a $10,000 prize purse to the athlete who earns the most money across all three rodeos. Below are the official rules governing the series:
Eligibility and Participation
- Event Participation: To be eligible for the Cascade Chute Out Series prize, an athlete must compete at all three rodeos—Sisters Rodeo, High Desert Stampede, and Crooked River Roundup—in any of the following events:
-
-
- Bareback Riding
- Saddle Bronc Riding
- Tie-Down Roping
- Barrel Racing
- Bull Riding
- Breakaway Roping
- Steer Wrestling
- Team Roping (as a header or heeler)
-
- Flexibility in Events: There is no limit to the number of events an athlete may compete in, and athletes are not required to compete in the same events at all three rodeos. The only requirement is that the athlete participates in at least one of the listed events at each of the three rodeos.
- Competitor Status and Entry: Both permit holders and card holders are eligible to participate in the series and compete for the prize money.
Prize Money
- Series Prize: The athlete who earns the highest total money across all three rodeos in any of the eligible events will win the $10,000 Cascade Chute Out Series prize.
- Eligible Earnings: Only money won in the eight events offered at all three rodeos (Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, and Team Roping) will count toward the series prize. Money won in events not offered at all three rodeos, such as Steer Roping or Extreme Bulls, is not eligible for the Cascade Chute Out Series prize. Day money and ground money won will count toward eligible earnings.
- Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie for the highest total earnings, the $10,000 prize will be evenly split among the tied athletes.
Disqualification
- Turn Outs: An athlete who turns out (notified or non-notified) or receives a doctor release or Visual Injury at any of the three rodeos will be disqualified from eligibility for the Cascade Chute Out Series prize. Competing in at least one event at all three rodeos is mandatory.
- Slack and Performance Rule for Timed Events: If a timed event competitor competes in slack at a two-go rodeo and is drawn back into either the subsequent slack or performance and turns out, they will be disqualified from the Cascade Chute Out Series prize. Full participation in drawn opportunities is required.
General Provisions
- Compliance: All participants must adhere to the rules and regulations of each individual rodeo (Sisters Rodeo, High Desert Stampede, and Crooked River Roundup) in addition to these series-specific rules.
- Verification: Earnings and participation will be verified by the organizing committees of the three rodeos to ensure accuracy and fairness in determining the series winner.
- Score/Time Verification: In the event of disputes over scores, times, or earnings, the official records of each rodeo’s judges and secretaries will be final. Athletes are responsible for reviewing their earnings with each rodeo office post-event.
Competitor Conduct
- Athletes: Athletes must adhere to a code of conduct that prohibits unsportsmanlike behavior, abuse of livestock, or violation of local, state, or federal laws. Violations may result in disqualification from the series prize at the discretion of the series committee.
- Animal Welfare: All competitors must follow animal welfare guidelines as set by the PRCA and each rodeo. Mistreatment of livestock, intentional or otherwise, will result in immediate disqualification from the series.
Series Administration
- Series Committee: A Cascade Chute Out Series Committee, composed of representatives from all three rodeos, will oversee the series, resolve disputes, and confirm the final winner. Decisions by the committee are final.
- Notification of Winner: The winner of the $10,000 prize will be announced within 10 business days following the conclusion of the final rodeo (Crooked River Roundup). Earnings will be cross-checked across all three rodeos before the prize is awarded.
Contingencies
- Event Cancellation: If one of the three rodeos is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather, emergency), the series prize can be adjusted proportionally, and eligibility will require competing in the two other rodeos in the series. The committee will communicate any changes promptly.
Publicity
- Promotions: By participating in the Cascade Chute Out Series, athletes grant the series and its partner rodeos the right to use their name, likeness, and performance details for promotional purposes.
